Blow your Trumpet

Don’t blow your trumpet! 🤐

A few years ago I used to hear people say don’t blow your trumpet. It was somehow a sign of humility.

I am not sure if it is an African thing, but that was pretty much the standard.🤔

So, if you are great at something, you don’t say it. You wait until someone notices you and then says it.

But if no one notices the great thing that you have done… Well, it just ends there.☹️

It is just beautiful to see how much things have changed. These days, nobody is waiting for someone else to blow their trumpet.

Men are blowing their trumpets as they go, no time to even check how good it sounds.

Anyhow, they mooove! 🥰

You never know the particular sound that will attract king (just saying).

Before, I used to feel uncomfortable talking about myself to someone.

You understand that feeling of not wanting to sound proud, that was my challenge.

Until I started attending job interviews, pitching to clients, speaking to people, etc.

I got to understand that people love to see results before taking an action. So, I learned how to come through for myself.

The truth is that things have really changed.

In those days, if you don’t blow your trumpet, some good guy watching somewhere will blow it for you.

Hmmm,

These days, if you don’t blow your trumpet nobody will blow it for you o.

Why?

Because they are busy blowing their own trumpet. After all, they have only one mouth. 🤣

The bottom line is:

Get comfortable talking about yourself, what you do, your achievements, etc.

And to my business people;

There are people searching for people like you that run the kind of business that you run.

If you have abandoned your trumpet, please go and pick it up. If you don’t blow your trumpet, it will get rust.

If you are not there, you may never be found.

You know that if you don’t give it to them, how will they take it. 🤷
